Primary School Library Policies
Library Circulation
- Students may check out two books per visit.
- Students may have a maximum of three books checked out at any one time.
- The loan period for books is one week.
- Students are asked to check out one book in English and one book in the other language of instruction each time they visit the library.
- Students in grades K – 1 will use library bags. Students cannot check out if they do not bring their library bag to school.
- The charge for damaged or lost books is $15. The charge for audiobooks and videos is cost plus a processing fee.
- No fines are charged for overdue books.
- All library accounts are expected to be current at the end of the year.
- Book return boxes are located in the library and in the foyer of the Primary School building.
Library Access
- Primary school students have access to the library before and after school when accompanied by a parent or other adult.
Parents as Patrons
- Parents are encouraged to open a library patron account.
- Only parents can check out videos, audiobooks and audio/book kits.
- The loan period for items checked out by parents is also one week.
- Parents may come to the library to check out materials at any time during the library hours of operation, but during academic hours the library staff will serve student patrons first.
